The Passage of Time
ink on paper, 20" x 30"
This is a study I did using India ink in order to further develop my understanding of light and shadow. I wanted to have a stronger grasp on form and distinguishing between values, and I ended up choosing subjects that more or less expressed the passage of time (a dusty candle, a sculpture/vase inspired by Greek busts , a bottle of decaying flowers, and an hourglass), hence the name of the painting.
